A Brief Introduction

MSR Innovations is a private start-up company, incorporated in British Columbia. It was created in 2005, and the company was forged by entering the Telus New Ventures business competition the same year. Founders Tim Roddick and Jason Scultety met while working in the fuel cell sector in the 1990's. Tim and Jason had been looking for some time for the right project to combine their extensive automotive sector design, engineering and manufacturing experience in the renewable energy industry. SolTrak™, with its considerable design flexibility, renewable energy component, and potential for high-volume, was that exact opportunity.

SolTrak™ Modular Roofing

The idea for the SolTrak™ Modular Solar Roofing system originated in 2003 when one of the founders needed a new roof on his house. This sparked discussions on roofing materials, which found existing options sorely lacking. Attention soon turned to the possibilities afforded by automotive sector manufacturing techniques, with which the founders were very familiar. Ideas flew fast and furious; solar power was thrown into the mix, and SolTrak™ was born. There would be many updates, much development, and new iterations, but the core idea remained: a new kind of roofing system to take solar power mainstream.
